Beginner classes

​​Nordic Walking is a form of physical activity where the active use of a pair of specially designed  Nordic Walking poles is added to regular natural walking. This enables you to get a full body work out whilst walking. Nordic Walking is simple, effective and a fun and sociable way to improve your health and fitness. It is suitable for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. It burns more calories than regular walking and can also have beneficial results for those suffering from muscle and/or joint pain.

The beginners course

 

The beginners course consists of 4 classes that will take you through the skills that you need to master in order to exercise at the Health and Fitness level of Nordic Walking.

The course will teach you the correct technique using a 10 step teaching method. It will also include how to develop speed, increase exercise intensity and to develop up hill and downhill technique.

Each class will last about one hour and ten minutes and include a walk of

 

between one and three miles.

 

The walks will always be easy and slow paced in the beginning to give everyone the chance to practice their technique. The pace of the walks will always take into account the abilities and fitness levels of all members of the group.​

​​Requirements

 

​Each person who takes part in one of my classes will be required to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ). This is required for your safety and also my insurance.

​

​No special clothing is required. You just need a comfortable pair of ​​walking shoes or trainers. Nordic walking poles will be provided.
